Wafi Energy Pakistan posts Rs641mn loss in Q2 as global energy disruptions hit

Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited, the former Shell Pakistan, has booked a post-tax loss of Rs641 million for the three months to June 30, 2026, against a profit of Rs422 million a year earlier, Business Recorder reported. The oil marketing company posted a loss of Rs3 per share for the quarter, compared with earnings of Rs1.89 per share previously. Even so, its profit after tax for the half year rose 21% to Rs1,523 million from Rs1,260 million.

The company said it kept supplies steady through a stretch of disruption in global energy markets and continued price swings, according to a statement issued on Thursday. Its retail network gained 38 Shell outlets and 18 Shell Select stores, while two EV Shell Recharge points were added and eight existing sites were upgraded. Lubricant sales expanded across consumer and industrial segments, helped by new product launches.

Wafi Energy also opened a 7.4-million-litre gasoline tank at Tarru Jabba in Nowshera, KPK, which it said improves its ability to move fuel closer to demand. The company plans to extend its Shell retail presence across northern Pakistan. Chief Executive Zubair Shaikh called it a demanding half for the industry, citing disrupted supply routes and cost volatility.
