Community Guidelines

What this community is for

Each PSX stock has its own discussion. It is a place for Pakistani investors to share views about a listed company, ask questions and learn from each other. Keep comments about that company, its results, announcements, sector or share price.

• Good comments say why: a result, a number, an announcement, a chart level or a risk.
• Disagreement is welcome. Insults are not.
• Every comment is the personal opinion of the member who wrote it. Investify does not verify or endorse member comments, even when a comment has been approved.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users in this community. Content that breaks these guidelines is removed. Members who post it, or who abuse, harass or threaten other members, are restricted or banned, and serious cases can be banned straight away.

• You accept this, the Terms and these guidelines when you create your community profile. If we update them, we may ask you to accept the new version before you can post, reply or edit again.
• You can always block and report people yourself. See Blocking people and Reporting and appeals.

Be respectful

Argue with the idea, not the person. These are not allowed:

• Abuse, insults, name-calling and bullying.
• Hate speech, or attacks on people because of their religion, sect, ethnicity, language, gender, disability or nationality.
• Sectarian or religious provocation of any kind.
• Threats of violence or harm, including jokes that read as threats.
• Harassment, such as following one member from stock to stock or repeatedly targeting them.
• Doxxing: sharing anyone's private information, such as home address, workplace, family details, ID numbers or photos.
• Obscene or sexually explicit content.

No personal contact details or off-platform offers

Scammers use discussion boards to pull people into private chats. To keep everyone safe, please do not post:

• Phone numbers, email addresses or other personal contact details, yours or anyone else's.
• Links or web addresses of any kind.
• Invitations to WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Facebook or other groups, or requests to message you privately.
• Social media handles whose purpose is to move people elsewhere.

Comments containing these are usually rejected automatically.

No tip selling, paid signals or guaranteed returns

• Do not sell or advertise tips, signals, paid groups, courses or advisory services.
• Do not promise or imply guaranteed, risk-free or "sure shot" returns, or claim you can double anyone's money.
• Do not ask for money, offer to trade or invest on someone else's behalf, or pool funds.
• If you hold the stock you are talking about, it helps other readers if you say so.

Keep the market fair

The Securities Act, 2015 prohibits market manipulation, insider trading and misleading statements made to induce people to trade, and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) enforces it. Breaking these laws can have serious consequences for you. In this community, do not:

• Coordinate a pump and dump, or urge others to buy or sell together to move a price, or hype a thinly traded share so that you can sell into the rise.
• Spread false or fabricated corporate news, such as invented results, dividends, mergers, board decisions or defaults, or pass off a rumour as fact.
• Use or share inside information, meaning price-sensitive facts that have not been made public. If you know something because of your job or position, do not post it.
• Post leaked, confidential or unpublished company documents.

Opinions are not investment advice

Everything in the discussions is a member's personal opinion. It is not investment advice, a recommendation or an offer to buy or sell anything. Investify is not a brokerage and does not give investment advice.

• Do not present yourself as a licensed adviser or analyst, and do not give personalised instructions telling a particular person what to buy or sell. Research analysts are regulated by the SECP.
• Do your own research. Share prices can fall as well as rise, and you can lose money. For personal advice, speak to an SECP-registered adviser.

Talking about people and companies

Criticise a company's results, strategy and publicly known decisions as much as you like. Be careful with claims about people.

• Do not state as fact that a named person, such as a director, executive, analyst or another member, has committed a crime, fraud, corruption or misconduct. If something has been reported by an official or credible source, such as a company announcement, the PSX, the SECP, a court or established news media, say where it comes from.
• Do not make allegations about anyone's private life.
• Stick to what you can support, and say clearly when something is your opinion.

Pakistani law, including the Defamation Ordinance, 2002 and section 20 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 (PECA), can apply to false statements that harm a person's reputation, and you are responsible for what you write. Comments that make serious claims about named people are more likely to be sent to a moderator for review, and may be rejected.

Content that is against the law

Do not post content that is unlawful in Pakistan. This includes content that:

• Insults religious figures or beliefs, or deliberately outrages religious feelings.
• Promotes violence, terrorism or banned organisations.
• Is false information meant to cause fear, panic or unrest.
• Incites people to break the law, or threatens or intimidates others.
• Otherwise breaks PECA or the directions and rules of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

We remove content we believe falls into these categories, and we follow valid directions from courts and authorities. See Legal requests and contact.

No impersonation

• Do not pose as Investify or its staff, a broker, a listed company, the PSX, the SECP or any official, journalist or other person.
• Official replies from Investify carry the "Official" badge. If an account without that badge claims to speak for Investify, report it.
• Handles and display names are checked too, and may be refused if they imitate someone else or are offensive.

Badges

• Official: only Investify's own accounts use this badge: @Investify for posts from the Investify team, and @InvestifyUpdates for automatic posts about company announcements. Investify will never ask you for money, passwords or OTP codes in a comment or a message.
• Blue tick: the member has verified a mobile number. It is not an endorsement by Investify and does not mean their views are reliable. The number itself is never shown.
• Top commenter: awarded automatically to members whose comments have received many likes from other members. It is not an endorsement of any comment and does not make a view more reliable.

One person, one account

• Do not create extra accounts to get around a ban or a limit, or to make it look as if more people agree with you.
• Do not like your own comments from another account.
• If you are banned, opening a new account to come back is ban evasion, and the new account can be banned as well.
• New accounts may need to wait a few days before posting, or can verify an email address or Pakistani mobile number to post sooner. To help stop ban evasion we keep a hashed version of your network address, and we keep your verified phone number on record, with a hashed and a masked form. See the Privacy Policy.

How moderation works

• Every comment is checked before it appears. Automated rules run first, then an AI system reads the comment text (and the comment it replies to). Most comments are checked soon after you post, but some take longer.
• Some comments are sent to Investify moderators, who are people, for example when the automated check is not sure. You will see "In moderator review" on your comment and we will notify you of the outcome.
• Edits are checked again before they replace the current text.
• Handles and display names are checked as well.
• We can still hide or remove a comment after it has been approved, for example after reports or a legal request.
• Approval does not mean Investify agrees with a comment or has checked that it is true.
• Automated checks can make mistakes. If you think one did, you can appeal.

Reporting and appeals

Use the menu on any comment to report it. Choose a reason (spam, scam, abuse, misinformation, off-topic or other) and add a short note if it helps. To report a member rather than one comment, use Report on their profile page or in the menu of one of their comments, and choose spam, scam, abuse, impersonation or other. You can tick Also block when you report. The person you report is not told who reported them. Moderators can see who sent a report.

• Our team reviews reports within 24 hours.
• If a comment collects several reports it may be hidden automatically until a moderator has looked at it. The moderator then restores it or removes it.
• If a comment of yours is rejected by the automated check, you can appeal it once, within a limited time (currently 7 days from the rejection). Appeals go to a person. Rejections made by a moderator are final.
• Your own comments, with their status and any appeal button, are listed in Settings.
• If you think a ban is a mistake, email support@investify.pk and tell us your handle.

Blocking people

You are in control of who you hear from. Use Block in the menu of a comment, or on a member's profile page, to block anyone who bothers you. You can see everyone you blocked, and unblock them, in Settings.

• You no longer see their comments and replies, including their replies under your own comments.
• Neither of you can reply to the other's comments, like them or mention each other, and no notifications pass between you.
• They are not told that you blocked them.
• Blocking only changes what you see. Their approved comments stay visible to everyone else, and Investify team accounts cannot be blocked.
• Blocking and unblocking the same person over and over is limited, and there is a cap on how many people you can block.
• Blocking is not a report. If someone breaks these guidelines, report them as well, or tick Also block while you report.

What happens when the rules are broken

• A comment that breaks the rules is rejected and not shown. We tell you the reason where we can.
• Rejections are recorded. Repeated or serious rejections lead to a temporary ban from posting, a short one first and then a longer one.
• Members who are blocked by many other members, or who are reported by others, are looked at by our moderators.
• Continued or severe violations lead to a permanent ban. Moderators can also ban an account straight away, or restrict posting from a network address, for serious cases.
• A phone number used by a permanently banned account cannot be used to verify a new account.
• We may hide or remove content we believe is unlawful while we review it. Where the law requires it, we may preserve information and share it with the authorities.

Legal requests and contact

To report content that you believe is unlawful or defamatory, or to send a legal notice or an order from a court or authority, email support@investify.pk. Please include the link to the comment, what you say is wrong with it and why, and how we can reach you. For ordinary problems the Report option on the comment is quickest.

We review notices as quickly as we reasonably can and may hide a comment while we do. We follow valid legal directions, and where the law requires we preserve and disclose information to the authorities. See the Terms and the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these guidelines

We may update these guidelines as the community and the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to post after a change means you accept it, and we may ask you to accept the new version before you can post, reply or edit again.
