KOHP incurs Rs3.5m FY26 loss

Kohinoor Power Company Limited (PSX: KOHP) posted a loss after tax of Rs3.47m in the year to June 30, 2026, a sharp reversal from a net profit of Rs10.92m a year earlier, Mettis Global reported. Loss per share stood at Rs0.28, compared with earnings of Rs0.87 per share in FY25. The company's swing into the red came mainly from a tax charge rather than weaker operations.

Operating performance improved across several lines. Rental income climbed 52% to Rs10.22m from Rs6.74m, lifting gross profit 121% to Rs5.48m. Operating profit rose 82% to Rs5.07m, and profit before income taxes increased 45% to Rs3.92m, while finance charges stayed minimal at Rs3,816.

Tax explained most of the change. FY25 included a Rs8.22m credit from reversing an income tax provision, while FY26 carried a Rs7.39m direct income tax charge that erased the operating gains.
