BOA approves Karachi Industrial Park as Federal SEZ
Mettis Global • • 1 min read

Mettis Global reported that the Board of Approvals for Special Economic Zones has cleared Karachi Industrial Park for designation as a Federal SEZ. At its 11th meeting, chaired by Finance and Revenue Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the board also approved eligibility rules for government-funded utilities and other facilities at privately established zones, along with a land-leasing policy for public industrial estates in Punjab.
The Karachi park is intended to attract export-focused manufacturers, support technology transfer and value addition, and generate employment. Under the approved framework, requests for government-funded road access and utilities at private SEZs will be assessed individually, while Punjab’s long-term leasing approach is designed to reduce initial land costs and improve use of public industrial land. The decisions form part of the government’s stated effort to encourage industrial investment and private-sector participation.
