Samsung posts record $80 billion profit in Q3 on AI chip boom
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Samsung Electronics reported operating profit of 107.4 trillion won, equivalent to $80.04 billion, for July through September, setting a quarterly record, Business Recorder reported. The result was almost nine times the 12.2 trillion won recorded in the same quarter a year earlier and matched the company’s estimate. Strong demand for chips used in artificial-intelligence systems supported the increase.
The record came as investors continued to question how long AI-related spending will remain strong. A day earlier, rival SK Hynix posted robust earnings and a positive outlook, helping calm concerns about the staying power of AI chip profits. The reports lifted shares of both Samsung and SK Hynix, according to the source.
At a glance
- Samsung’s third-quarter operating profit reached 107.4 trillion won.
- Profit was nearly nine times the year-earlier figure.
- SK Hynix’s results and outlook helped ease concerns about AI chip earnings.
