Banks to extend Saturday hours for tax payments
Mettis Global • • 1 min read

Mettis Global reported on October 29 that banks must keep branches already scheduled to open on Saturdays operating until 8:00pm on October 31. The extended counter service is intended to let taxpayers pay government duties and taxes in person, following a request from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Banks have also been asked to keep the relevant branches open for as long as necessary to support NIFT’s special processing of government receipts on that date. Separately, they must maintain access to online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs and other digital platforms. The instructions cover both branch-based and electronic payments, with the extended hours specifically applying to Saturday-opening branches on October 31.
At a glance
- Saturday-opening bank branches are to remain open until 8:00pm on October 31.
