GCWL closes FY26 with 7% loss in profit
Mettis Global • • 1 min read

Mettis Global reported that Ghani Chemworld Limited (GCWL) posted a net profit of Rs67.39m for the fiscal year to June 30, 2026. That figure was 7 per cent lower than the restated Rs72.74m recorded a year earlier. Basic and diluted earnings per share came to Rs0.27, down from Rs1.40 in the prior year.
The company started commercial sales during the year and generated Rs312.36m from customer contracts. Cost of sales, which reflected early ramp-up expenses, reached Rs451.29m, leaving a gross loss of Rs138.92m. Administrative and general expenses jumped 30 per cent to Rs16.80m, and finance costs of Rs120.05m were booked below the operating line.
A share of profit from an associated company climbed to Rs352.04m from Rs85.65m, and no tax or levy was charged for the period. That income more than covered the start-up losses, operating costs and finance charges, leaving the bottom line positive. The result shows the reported profit rested heavily on the associate's contribution rather than on core operations.
At a glance
- Net profit fell 7 per cent to Rs67.39m, against a restated Rs72.74m a year earlier.
- Revenue of Rs312.36m from commercial sales did not prevent a gross loss of Rs138.92m.
- Share of profit from an associated company rose to Rs352.04m, offsetting the operating and finance losses.
