Interview with Ben YI - Managing Director, Daraz Pakistan: ‘The real breakthrough will come from frequency’
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Business Recorder published an interview with Ben Yi, Managing Director of Daraz Pakistan, in which he outlined the company's next phase. Yi said the priority has shifted from building access to raising productivity, with smaller sellers needing better demand insights, assortment, inventory planning and fulfilment. He stressed that success should be judged by whether sellers grow into stronger businesses, not by how many join the platform.
On logistics, Yi said DEX currently supports over 200 major brands after expanding about 6X since November 2025. He noted that each sorter at the Karachi and Lahore centres can handle roughly 10,000 parcels hourly. On payments, about 30% of the company's sales are now made digitally, and Yi expects that share to keep growing.
In healthcare, Yi said the licensed e-pharmacy offers over 450 products from more than 20 healthcare brands. Abbott's sales on the platform rose about 8x compared with a year earlier. He argued that the next breakthrough in Pakistani e-commerce will depend on purchase frequency rather than on more people trying online shopping.
