UK eyes role in Pakistan’s PPP, investment reforms

Britain has signalled readiness to back Pakistan's drive to draw private money into public-private partnerships, Mettis Global reported. The offer came during a meeting in Islamabad between High Commissioner Jane Marriott and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and the British side said it could supply technical know-how for PPP work, including in the provinces.
The talks covered regulatory reforms, easier dealings for investors and aftercare, along with tax administration, digitalisation and public investment. Aurangzeb urged closer coordination among state bodies so that reforms are applied uniformly and businesses face a steadier environment. Aviation financing was also raised, though he said technical and commercial factors would shape any next steps.
Aurangzeb outlined Islamabad's external financing plan, aimed at wider access to global capital markets and less refinancing pressure, following a recent $3 billion Eurobond sold in two tranches. Marriott called that issuance important for investor confidence. Both governments agreed to keep working on reforms, institutions, trade and greater private sector involvement.
