Pakistan’s oil sales rise 6% to 4.1m tonnes in 1QFY27 on furnace oil surge
PROFIT BY PAKISTAN TODAY • • 1 min read

Oil marketing companies in Pakistan sold 4.1 million tonnes in the first quarter of FY27, a 6% rise from a year earlier, Profit reported, citing Topline Pakistan Research. The gain came mainly from furnace oil, whose consumption rose as LNG shortages and a change in the power generation mix pushed power producers toward it. Excluding furnace oil, volumes were flat at 3.8 million tonnes, as steep increases in petrol and diesel prices weighed on demand.
September was mixed: total sales reached 1.3 million tonnes, down 2% from a year earlier but up 7% from August. Petrol sales fell 5% year on year to 652,000 tonnes, while diesel volumes dropped 11% annually yet rebounded 25% from the previous month, which Topline mainly linked to seasonal factors. Petrol averaged Rs375 per litre, up 42%, while high-speed diesel rose 48% to Rs401 per litre.
PSO was the only listed OMC to post both annual and monthly sales growth in September, selling 639,000 tonnes, up 12% on both measures, and lifting its market share by 230 basis points to 47.51%. Attock Petroleum sold 116,000 tonnes, flat year on year, while its share slipped 99 basis points to 8.62%. Wafi Energy recorded 110,000 tonnes, down 6% annually but up 2% monthly.
