Swedish, Nordic firms, Pakistani textile makers explore green solutions
BUSINESS RECORDER • • 1 min read

In Karachi, Swedish and Nordic companies joined Pakistani textile manufacturers and partners at a second matchmaking gathering run by the Sustainable Textile Platform, according to Business Recorder. Set up in 2024 by the Swedish embassy and Business Sweden, the platform aims to foster dialogue, knowledge sharing and commercial ties around environmentally responsible production. Earlier activities included a policy dialogue on green energy in Islamabad in spring 2025 and a first matchmaking round in Karachi last year.
The event paired local suppliers that work with Swedish brands, including IKEA and H&M, with Nordic technology providers offering tools for more efficient output. Talks covered energy efficiency, water management, resource use, cleaner production and financing options for companies making green investments. The report added that IKEA and H&M are already working alongside Pakistani suppliers to lift sustainability standards across their supply chains.
Business Sweden officials said the goal is to convert sustainability goals into commercial openings, and future work will centre on follow-up meetings and possible partnerships. This spring the platform also contributed to a plenary discussion on textiles at the inaugural EU Business Forum.
