Tech companies eye US market

Sixteen Pakistani technology businesses met US representatives and industry specialists at Pakistan-US Tech Connect 2026, a networking event held by the Pakistani embassy on Wednesday. Dawn reported that the gathering was organised with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, the Pakistan Software Export Board and OPEN Global. Participants explored commercial ties across areas including AI, cloud services, data analysis, fintech and health technology, while shifting US immigration rules make travel for overseas professionals more difficult.
Speakers urged firms to build specialised capabilities and their own scalable products instead of relying chiefly on routine IT work and low labour costs. Oracle’s Sofyan Yusufi said understanding US business practices, improving technical skills and forming teams that match market expectations were important; other participants raised education, inclusion and responsiveness to customer needs. PSEB chief executive Faisal Jeddy said North America accounted for 80 per cent of the $4.6 billion in IT exports cited at the event, underlining the region’s significance to Pakistan’s technology industry.
