Qualified expert sought for gas firm
THE EXPRESS TRIBUNE • • 1 min read

The Organisation for Advancement and Safeguard of Industrial Sector (OASIS) has asked the government to choose a technically trained, commercially experienced managing director for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). In a submission to the Ministry of Petroleum, it said the company’s large network, infrastructure work and gas-supply responsibilities call for specialised expertise. OASIS cautioned that a career focused mainly on finance or recoveries would not be enough for the role.
The group proposed a relevant engineering degree and at least 20 years of experience in areas such as gas, petroleum or pipeline infrastructure. It also wants candidates assessed on their practical knowledge of gas systems, contracts, tariffs and regulation, as well as their record in network expansion, rehabilitation, safety and loss reduction. OASIS said financial skills should support, rather than replace, technical and operational competence, with the managing director responsible for reliable supply and service.
At a glance
- OASIS wants SNGPL’s managing director to have technical and commercial experience.
- Its proposed eligibility includes an engineering degree and at least 20 years of relevant experience.
