Govt advised to appoint a technically ‘qualified’ MD SNGPL
BUSINESS RECORDER • • 1 min read

Business Recorder reported on October 23 that the Organization for Advancement and Safeguard of Industrial Sector has asked the petroleum ministry to set technical and commercial qualifications for the next managing director of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited. The group says the role requires expertise suited to a major gas transmission and distribution network, infrastructure development and supply arrangements.
Its proposed criteria include an engineering degree in a relevant discipline and at least 20 years of experience in energy, gas or pipeline infrastructure. It also recommends assessing candidates on gas operations, tariffs, regulation, commercial negotiations and measurable results in network expansion, rehabilitation, safety and loss reduction. OASIS says financial skills should support, rather than replace, operational and technical competence, and calls for a transparent process under the applicable public-sector framework.
