Pakistan is positioned to supply a wider range of goods to the Maldives as the two countries look to deepen trade and investment ties, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan said at a bilateral forum. Business Recorder reported that the discussions coincided with 60 years of diplomatic relations and included the Maldivian president, officials and business representatives.
Kamal identified food, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, textiles and construction goods as areas where Pakistani suppliers could serve Maldivian demand. He also pointed to tourism, information technology, transport and port-linked supply chains, while calling for better air and maritime connections. The government, he said, is pursuing business-environment and trade-process reforms, and TDAP can help connect Maldivian firms with local partners.
