Brazil is projected to produce 184 million metric tons of soybeans in the 2026-27 marketing year, according to a report by the US Department of Agriculture’s attache in Brasilia, cited by Business Recorder. The estimate is unofficial and falls short of the USDA’s formal 186 million-ton forecast, but is nearly 2% above Brazil’s 180.5 million-ton harvest in 2025-26.
The report said early rains had helped planting, while continued wet conditions in Rio Grande do Sul and severe-weather forecasts in some states could affect crop development. Harvest work is expected to face greater weather-related disruption than planting, while producers remain optimistic despite anticipated El Niño conditions. Soybean exports are forecast at 117.5 million tons in 2026-27, 2.1% higher year on year but below the USDA’s official estimate of 118 million tons.
