Apple expected to show first touchscreen laptops amid product blitz

Apple is expected to introduce its first touchscreen MacBooks at a Los Angeles event on Wednesday, Business Recorder reported. The launch would mark a change in the company’s longstanding resistance to adding touch controls to its laptop line, as it rolls out products ahead of the holiday shopping season.

The event follows Apple’s September launch of a folding iPhone called Duo and the release of a smart home hub earlier this month. Apple has also updated the base MacBook Pro with an M6 chip, while Bloomberg News has reported that touchscreen models will use existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. That could leave the new laptops without a major performance increase over current models, while customers’ response to touchscreens remains an open question.
