Mettis Global reported that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) views its Special Tax Scheme for Small Shopkeepers as being in an early implementation stage. The authority is working to remove practical and technical obstacles that traders have run into while registering for the scheme. Small traders facing registration problems have been asked to contact the FBR directly for help and guidance.
The FBR said it remains in regular contact with traders, market bodies and trade associations, and is weighing their feedback on genuine problems that emerge during enrolment. According to the authority, the scheme is meant to give small shopkeepers more assurance and convenience in running their operations while smoothing their move into the formal tax system. The government is trying to document more small enterprises under a streamlined model that promotes voluntary compliance.
The tax authority argued that ongoing cooperation among the government, the FBR, traders and trade bodies can clear up problems in rolling the scheme out. It also reaffirmed its commitment to help eligible traders complete registration smoothly, and it expressed confidence the scheme will support wider tax documentation efforts.
