Petrol price up Rs3.26, diesel down Rs1.01 per litre

Mettis Link News reported that the petroleum division of the Ministry of Energy has revised ex-depot prices for two fuels, effective October 2, 2026. High-speed diesel becomes cheaper by Rs1.01 per litre, falling to Rs399.34 from Rs400.35. Petrol, however, rises by Rs3.26 per litre to Rs390.66, up from Rs387.40.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority, OGRA, carried out the revision under the pricing mechanism set by the federal government. The change follows global developments, namely shifts in Platts rates, premiums and incidental costs.
The two fuels therefore moved in opposite directions under the same revision. The petrol increase is larger in rupee terms than the diesel reduction. Consumers will pay the revised rates from October 2, 2026, when the changes take effect.
