Provinces' feedback on IEP sought
The Express Tribune • • 1 min read

The Cabinet Committee on Energy has asked the Power Division to bring the provinces into the rollout of the national Integrated Energy Plan, The Express Tribune reported. At a recent CCOE meeting, members were told the plan would be a 10-year programme inside a 33-year outlook covering 2027 to 2060. Replies from the provinces were still outstanding, the paper said, even after several reminders and a long delay.
Under the proposed governance model, a steering committee, an IEP Secretariat and sub-working groups would coordinate federal and provincial stakeholders. Policy oversight would sit with the CCOE and the Council of Common Interests. The Power Division said it completed the High-Level Design after consulting more than 50 stakeholders, among them provincial governments, Nepra, Ogra, PSO and K-Electric. The CCOE had earlier approved the planning ecosystem and secretariat structure on December 24, 2025.
The Power Division has also sought approval for the IEP Secretariat to develop an Energy Information System, with relevant bodies told to integrate their data. The framework rests on four pillars: energy, economics, equity and environment. It also covers both demand and supply across the energy value chain.
