PSX: selling at bourse, KSE-100 sheds over 800 points

The KSE-100 was down 855.97 points, or 0.52%, at 165,075.01 by 11:05am on Thursday, as selling spread across the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Business Recorder reported. The pressure extended to automobile assemblers, cement, oil and gas exploration, oil marketing, power generation and refinery shares. HUBCO, MARI, OGDC, PPL, PSO, SSGC, HBL and UBL were among index-heavy stocks trading lower.

The decline followed Wednesday’s 779.34-point recovery, which took the benchmark to 165,930.99 after institutional buying and optimism over diplomatic efforts on the US-Iran conflict, alongside expectations for the draft Auto Policy 2026-31. Regional markets were also weak in early Thursday trading: Asian shares outside Japan fell 0.2%, Japan’s Nikkei was down 0.4% and Korean shares lost more than 1%. US stock futures were lower, although overnight gains on Wall Street followed stronger-than-expected earnings from major technology companies.
