Imported cell phones: FBR allows ST in instalments
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

The Federal Board of Revenue has introduced monthly instalments for sales tax on imported mobile phones being registered through DIRBS, Business Recorder reported. The change was made through Customs General Order No 06 of 2026, which amends the 2019 order and applies to international travellers, local applicants, and phones brought in by post or courier.
Payments are divided equally across the months left in the financial year, counting the month the application is filed. Phones imported in June require full payment that month, and all instalments must be settled by June 30; unpaid amounts make the device liable to blocking and the outstanding tax immediately due. Applicants can also pay instalments early.
