Pakistan’s textile representatives and the United Kingdom discussed possible tariff relief and ways to widen Pakistani suppliers’ access to British retailers, Profit by Pakistan Today reported. At a meeting with the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), British High Commissioner Jane Marriott also called for stronger links in research, technical support and specialised textile production.
APTMA Chairman Asad Shafi proposed a cooperation framework spanning spinning, weaving, processing, garments and home textiles for export. The talks also covered training, product testing and new materials, while Marriott highlighted sustainability requirements, including environmental performance and supply-chain transparency.
