PM committee sets 120-day deadline for shrimp farming roadmap
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

A prime ministerial sub-committee has given itself 120 days to prepare a plan for expanding shrimp farming, adding value to the product and increasing exports, Business Recorder reported. The work sits within a wider 24-month implementation and review process, and the group approved an initial 14-day action plan for participating institutions.
The committee approved seven technical working groups and a costing unit to produce 14 reports and export projections, using verified data to establish a sector baseline and identify obstacles from production through processing. Federal and provincial officials are also examining hatchery development, traceability and value-chain gaps; Sindh is preparing a feasibility study for a proposed 3,500-acre shrimp farm. The roadmap is intended to coordinate measures that improve the industry’s export competitiveness.
