Appian in talks with EBRD, others, on critical minerals funds
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Appian Capital Advisory is discussing possible funding for critical-minerals projects with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and other parties, Business Recorder reported, citing Reuters. Neither side disclosed the proposed investment’s size, and the EBRD said the discussions are continuing without confirming a deal.
The talks follow Appian’s $1 billion joint fund with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which the firm’s critical-minerals chief described as a model for further partnerships. Appian plans to invest $5 billion to $7 billion worldwide over the next 12 to 24 months, including about $2 billion in Africa, while policy uncertainty is directing attention towards Latin America.
The firm is also considering investments in mineral processing, where supply constraints affect some materials used in rare-earth magnets. Appian says its experience building 14 mines in five years has helped it pursue additional partnerships as governments and development institutions direct capital towards critical minerals.
