PSX rolls out Shariah-Compliant Trading Counter

Pakistan Stock Exchange has introduced a dedicated Shariah-compliant trading counter after the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan approved its regulations, Mettis Global reported on October 30, 2026. The facility is designed for retail and institutional investors, with 39 brokers offering access through Islamic windows and two licensed as fully Shariah-compliant brokers.

Trading is restricted to eligible shares and Government Ijarah Sukuk and Corporate Sukuk, while non-compliant securities, short selling and derivatives are excluded. The counter also blocks interest-based margin trading, offering Murabaha Share Financing instead; a new portal lists eligible stocks and Sukuk. PSX said the platform would broaden access to Islamic investments, as investor accounts have passed 650,000.
