Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Business Recorder reported that the KSE-100 was 236.26 points lower at 166,957.17 by 9:50am on Friday, a decline of 0.14% during early trade. The move followed the index’s 1,456.68-point advance on Thursday, when it finished at 167,193.44.
Losses were seen among banks, cement makers, fertiliser producers, automobile assemblers, oil and gas explorers and marketing companies. HUBCO, MARI, PPL, MCB, MEBL, NBP and UBL were among the large index constituents trading lower. Separately, the finance ministry forecast October 2026 inflation at 9.5% to 10.5%, citing high food and energy costs.
Overseas markets were also under pressure, with technology shares falling in Asia amid concern that substantial AI investment might not generate adequate returns. The report noted losses in major US technology stocks, steep declines in South Korea and Japan, and a drop in cryptocurrency prices following news of a hack affecting Binance. This is an intraday update, so the figures describe trading at the time of reporting.
