Binance to resume withdrawals after recovering bulk of $6 billion in stolen funds

Binance plans to reopen customer withdrawals in stages on Sunday, after replacing 95% of the $6.3 billion in digital tokens taken in a cyberattack. The first phase is scheduled to begin between 0600 and 0900 GMT and will cover bitcoin, ether, BNB, Solana, XRP, dogecoin and other tokens.

Business Recorder reported that Binance said the remaining 5% comprises less-liquid assets that could take longer to obtain in the necessary quantities. The FBI attributed the operation to TraderTraitor, a North Korean state-backed group, and said its members had changed stolen assets into ethereum; it warned that more laundering through related technology is expected. North Korea has denied using state-linked cyber units for financial theft, according to the report.
