Consumer firms defy economic headwinds

Dawn reported that several consumer-goods businesses increased sales in the first nine months of 2026 despite inflation and pressure on household spending. FrieslandCampina Engro Pakistan’s revenue grew 10.1pc to Rs88.4bn and profit reached Rs6.5bn, compared with Rs2bn a year earlier. Fauji Foods posted record nine-month revenue of Rs23.9bn, up 14.1pc, although its after-tax profit declined to Rs666m from Rs945m.

Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan recorded July-September sales of Rs52.7bn, a 25.53pc increase, while profit rose 8pc to Rs4.9bn. The company cited price and volume gains, but also pointed to inflation, energy tariffs and supply risks tied to raw-material sourcing in Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Other firms in the report also posted higher sales, while some management outlooks remained cautious amid inflation, energy costs and regional tensions.
