FPCCI seeks FBR Karachi desk expansion
Dawn • • 1 min read

Dawn reported that the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) supports the Federal Board of Revenue’s new operations desk in Karachi, but wants Hyderabad and Sukkur tax offices brought under its coverage. FPCCI Executive Committee member Adeel Siddiqui said Karachi’s Regional Tax Offices now report to the desk, which is intended to handle taxpayer complaints more quickly and clear pending cases.
Siddiqui said Hyderabad’s tax office contributes about Rs110 billion to government revenue, while businesses in Hyderabad and Sukkur face delayed sales tax refunds, unresolved audits and administrative hurdles. He said taxpayers outside Karachi still have to travel to Islamabad for help, and argued that extending the desk would let them seek assistance in Karachi instead. The request concerns access to tax services across Sindh, rather than a change to tax rates or policy.
