‘Pakistan has opportunity to move beyond traditional software services’
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Pakistan could build expertise in industrial artificial intelligence rather than remain focused on conventional software services, Business Recorder reported, citing LUMS academics. They said factories increasingly need people who can use connected equipment and AI tools to spot faults early, maintain automated systems and limit production interruptions.
A new industry-backed lab and skills programme at LUMS will give students practical experience with industrial sensors, connected machinery and computing tools. The initiative plans to bring equipment into courses and projects, while developing graduates for specific workplace needs over the next three years. The academics also said AI may support lower-cost monitoring in suitable applications, but its use depends on required accuracy; broader export gains will also rely on government policy and economic conditions.
