The Express Tribune • • 1 min read

The Express Tribune reported that NationalGrid-Pakistan has brought into service a 220-kilovolt line linking Jhimpir-II with the Dhabeji sub-station. The Rs1,806.90 million project is intended to improve electricity access for the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (SEZ), where dependable power is expected to support industrial operations. The line’s completion follows the federal government’s plan to establish the zone as a hub for industry.
As companies establish or enlarge operations in the SEZ, the project is expected to support employment for nearby communities and opportunities for young people in Sindh. NationalGrid managing director Engineer Altaf Hussain Malik described the infrastructure work as a step towards meeting the zone’s longer-term industrial development goals. The report also links the improved power connection with potential investment and business activity in the area.
