Pakistan seeks to expand export financing through EXIM Bank, digital platforms
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Pakistan plans to widen credit support for exporters by putting its Export-Import Bank to work, shifting export-credit applications online and increasing access to subsidised finance, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan said at a meeting in Istanbul on Tuesday. He outlined the measures during the 42nd session of the OIC’s COMCEC Standing Committee, which focused on trade-finance tools to lift exports.
The minister said EXIM Bank offers insurance for trade credit, guarantees and refinancing, while online systems linking banks with development finance institutions are intended to make financing easier to obtain for micro, small and medium-sized businesses. He also cited Shariah-based options such as Murabaha, Salam and Ijarah, along with more concessional facilities for exporters. Khan called for stronger commercial ties among OIC members and identified digital links, artificial intelligence and sustainable development as areas for collaboration.
