Gas supply suspended across parts of Balochistan after pipeline blown up in Bolan
Profit by Pakistan Today • • 1 min read

Gas supply has been cut to several towns in Balochistan, including parts of Quetta, after a main pipeline was hit by an explosion late on Wednesday, according to Profit by Pakistan Today. Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) confirmed the attack and said the 18-inch line sustained serious damage that has interrupted flows. The blast struck the KMP-246 valve assembly on the Bolan riverbed near Gorkat, roughly 700 to 800 metres away from the principal Quetta-Sibi highway.
According to the company, unknown individuals placed explosives beneath the pipe in the riverbed and set them off by remote control. Supply was halted in Kolpur, Mach, Mastung, Kalat, Pishin, Ziarat and many areas of Quetta, and SSGC cautioned that users could see weaker pressure or no gas at all. Locals alleged that the main valve in the Daraz Bent area was the intended target, and witnesses saw flames and smoke rising from the broken line.
Repair teams are ready to begin work but are waiting for security clearance before they can reach the affected site. SSGC management says it is tracking the situation and working to bring supplies back as early as possible. For PSX investors, the incident bears directly on SSGC, which confirmed both the damage and the outage.
