Ogra has raised the price of liquefied petroleum gas by eight per cent for October, according to Dawn, pushing up costs ahead of winter. The 11.8kg domestic cylinder will now sell for Rs3,296.23, up Rs244.14 from Rs3,052.09 in September. The increase follows a surge in global prices, the report said.
The regulator set the LPG price at Rs279.34 per kg for October, compared with Rs258.64 per kg in September, which works out to roughly Rs21 more per kilogram. Ogra said the Saudi Aramco-CP price rose 9.9pc month on month, while the average dollar exchange rate slipped 0.12pc. Together these moves account for the higher consumer rate.
On a per tonne basis, the maximum consumer price stands at Rs279,341.49 for October against Rs258,651.52 in September, with the producer price rising to Rs238,041.49 from Rs217,351.52. Margins for marketing, distribution and transport of Rs35,000 per tonne, plus GST, were added to the producer price. The new rates remain in force until October 31, 2026.
