Business Recorder • • 1 min read

Business Recorder reported that Mughal Iron and Steel Industries Limited (MUGHAL) posted a 157.62 percent rise in net profit for 2026, reaching Rs2487.37 million. Earnings per share came to Rs6.75, with the net profit margin at 3.19 percent. Net sales, however, fell 12.81 percent to Rs77,958.20 million over the same year.
Gross profit rose 6.37 percent and the gross margin widened to 11.10 percent, which the company linked to a shift in sales mix, operational efficiency and inventory management. Operating profit grew 6.52 percent, with the operating margin at 9.64 percent, while finance cost fell 33.23 percent on lower average borrowing rates. Administrative expense climbed 30.16 percent, mainly because of higher payroll costs and a workforce that expanded to 2247 employees.
The company's outlook points to improving macroeconomic indicators as a driver of construction demand, and it said cheaper energy bought from Mughal Energy Limited (GEMMEL) should lower its cost of sales. MUGHAL is also part of a consortium pursuing the privatisation of Gujranwala Electric Power Company Limited, a government-owned DISCO. As of June 30, 2026, directors, the CEO and their families held 45.09 percent of the 335.634 million shares outstanding.
