Pakistan, Saudi Arabia agree to boost cooperation in oil, refineries and minerals

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to expand cooperation in crude and LPG procurement, oil storage, refinery modernisation and minerals, Dawn reported, citing the Petroleum Division. The discussions followed a meeting between Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik and Saudi ambassador Dr Rajeh bin Tami Al-Baqami.

Pakistan presented opportunities for Saudi investment through its refinery upgrade programme and a proposed petroleum storage and refining complex at Hub, Balochistan, planned under Technip Energies UK’s guidance. The minister also discussed greater crude purchases with Saudi Aramco and dedicated LPG shipments, while noting a tax-neutral bonded framework for commercial oil reserves. Separately, the Saudi embassy in Islamabad has begun same-day visa processing for Pakistani applicants.
