HUBCO targets BYD plant launch by end-2026, initial sales of up to 1,500 vehicles monthly

Hub Power Company, known as HUBCO, still expects its BYD car assembly facility to be running by the close of 2026. According to Profit, the initial sales target is 1,000 to 1,500 units a month as production builds up. At the annual general meeting, management reiterated the commissioning schedule and rejected concerns about delays, citing a report by Arif Habib Limited.

Zayan Babar Khan, an analyst at Arif Habib Limited, told Business Recorder that the facility is about four to five weeks from becoming functional. Early output will rely wholly on overseas inputs, and HUBCO intends to raise local content gradually. The long-term localisation goal stands at up to 80%, aimed at improving cost competitiveness and reducing reliance on imports.

HUBCO also plans to add further BYD models in stages, concentrating on the vehicle types and price brackets with the best sales prospects. Arif Habib Limited said the company will not add models at random, relying on competitive prices and quality to lift its share of the market. Earlier this month, BYD vice president for Asia Pacific auto sales Liu Xueliang told BR Research that the Pakistan plant, its sixth outside China, has initial annual capacity of 25,000 vehicles, expandable to 50,000.
