DAWN • • 1 min read

Dawn reported that petrol will cost Rs379.31 per litre from Oct 22, after a reduction of Rs2.71, while high-speed diesel rises by Re0.31 to Rs390.11. The Petroleum Division notification sets the revised rates, with the government retaining taxes and duties of Rs114 per litre on petrol and Rs100 on diesel. The change brings a small decline at the pump for petrol users but a slight increase for diesel buyers.
Both fuels had reached their highest reported prices, Rs458.41 for petrol and Rs520.35 for HSD, on April 3. The article also notes that authorities have restored austerity steps, including a 9pm closing time for markets and a 50 per cent reduction in official-vehicle fuel allocations for three months. Fuel rates are now adjusted daily by Ogra in response to international market movements, while petrol and diesel serve transport and other major users.
