UNIDO is preparing a programme worth about $40 million for Sindh, focused on rural livelihoods, climate-resilient facilities and jobs. Profit by Pakistan Today reported that the plan falls under the organisation’s 2025-30 Programme for Country Partnership, after talks involving Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and UNIDO Deputy Director General Fatou Haidara.
Officials also discussed PAIDAR, a European Union-backed initiative running in five districts with a €49.55 million grant. It funds rural infrastructure, community facilities and support for small businesses, including grants and technical help for micro, small and medium enterprises. The programme prioritises work opportunities for women and young people, while examples cited at the meeting included a woman-run restaurant in Badin and a pasta plant linked to a flour mill in Larkana. The two sides agreed to build on current cooperation and examine further areas for joint work.
