Qatar offers revised LNG prices as Pakistan weighs deal for 66 annual cargoes: report
Profit by Pakistan Today • • 1 min read

QatarEnergy has put forward a final LNG price of 11.96% of Brent for Pakistan’s two long-term supply agreements, while PSO is seeking government clearance to conclude the deal by November 3, Profit by Pakistan Today reported. The proposed schedule covers 66 cargoes a year from 2027 to 2031, down from 108 under the current agreements, which run until 2031.
Pakistan had sought a lower rate for the first contract and to keep the second at 10.20% of Brent. QatarEnergy rejected those terms after negotiations, offering 11.36% before setting its final rate at 11.96%; Pakistan must now decide whether to accept it. The talks also reflect lower LNG demand from the power sector and surplus domestic gas, while take-or-pay terms leave PSO responsible for payments even when demand is weak. The agreements offer limited scope to redirect excess cargoes, with overseas resale gains going to QatarEnergy and losses falling to PSO.
