This was the index’s fourth straight session of gains, following Wednesday’s 1,269.55-point advance to 165,736.76. The report linked the earlier rise to stronger-than-expected corporate results and improved investor sentiment, and said trading interest remained evident in fertiliser, banking and power stocks. Turnover was lower than Wednesday’s, and investors were assessing whether the recovery could hold near 167,000; analysts also noted that some traders could take profits at higher levels.
