German development agency GIZ plans to assist 300 small and medium-sized businesses in Sindh with environmental standards and access to green finance, Business Recorder reported. The programme will offer technical reviews, tailored advice and help connecting firms with financial institutions for environmentally focused investment. Its stated aims include limiting industrial pollution and helping participating businesses meet environmental requirements.
The initiative was discussed with Sindh’s Environment Department, which said it would work alongside businesses to address compliance challenges. Secretary Faisal Ahmed Uqaili also said about 70 per cent of departmental processes were digitised, with further online systems planned for inspector visits, payments and no-objection certificates. The discussions covered staff training, environmental monitoring and stronger laboratory capacity, alongside closer coordination between GIZ and the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency.
