Tyre makers face electronic surveillance

The Federal Board of Revenue has set Nov 30 as the deadline for tyre producers to equip their manufacturing lines with systems that record output and send information to tax officials. Dawn reported that the instruction was issued under Sales Tax General Order No.32 of 2026, bringing tyre production into the electronic oversight programme.

The required equipment will count finished tyres, classify them using product details, and flag stoppages, faults or attempts to interfere with monitoring. The system is also intended to create records for tax checks, while manufacturers must provide the necessary infrastructure and cannot move tyres off-site without monitored production. Nine firms were named initially, including Ghandhara Tyre and Rubber Company, Service Long March Tyres, Panther Tyres and Service Industries; the FBR said other registered producers are also covered.

  • Tyre producers have until Nov 30 to install electronic output-monitoring equipment.
  • The FBR initially named nine manufacturers, while stating the requirement applies to others too.
