PSO plans to import 120,000 tonnes of diesel in November amid Gulf supply disruptions

Pakistan State Oil is arranging two diesel cargoes of roughly 60,000 tonnes apiece for November, after a planned 55,000-tonne October delivery failed to arrive amid Gulf shipping disruption. Profit by Pakistan Today reported that the purchases are meant to replace the missed shipment and support domestic availability; the government had allowed PSO to import diesel as international petroleum prices climbed during the Middle East conflict.

Imported HSD receipts totalled 83,000 tonnes from the fiscal year’s opening through October, with the entire amount landing in August and no deliveries in September or October. Higher refinery output has helped offset the gap, rising from about 450,000 tonnes per month to above 500,000 tonnes, as Cnergyico, NRL and PRL increased operating capacity; demand is expected to strengthen ahead of wheat planting.

At a glance

  • PSO plans two diesel shipments of around 60,000 tonnes each in November.
  • Monthly refinery diesel output has risen above 500,000 tonnes.
