PM Shehbaz forms body to review proposed LPG policy reforms
Dawn • • 1 min read

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set up an eight-member committee to examine proposed changes to Pakistan’s LPG policy, Dawn reported on October 31. The panel, led by the petroleum minister, has one month to review the reforms and report back to the prime minister.
The plan would let state-owned enterprises, including PSO, import LPG and set monthly prices using Saudi Aramco rates and actual import-related costs, replacing Ogra’s pricing role. It also proposes raising marketing and importing companies’ minimum margins to Rs50,000 per tonne from Rs35,000, while a fund would channel price differences into targeted BISP support. The review follows objections from industry stakeholders, who challenged the consultation process and aspects of the proposed pricing model.
