UAE state oil company announces OpenAI partnership
Dawn • • 1 min read

UAE state oil company ADNOC has agreed to work with OpenAI on deploying the latter’s Frontier artificial intelligence platform, Dawn reported on Monday. The announcement came during Abu Dhabi’s ADIPEC oil conference, attended by OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman, and ADNOC called itself the first energy company to use the technology.
ADNOC said the system will combine information from wells, reservoirs and facilities with financial and commercial data to help prepare field-development plans. It also described AI agents that will assess forecasts for crude supply, demand, prices and margins as part of operational decisions. G42 is included in the partnership, but the companies disclosed no financial terms; the announcement comes amid higher oil prices following disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
