RPL bets on backward integration, resilient supply chain for the road ahead

Roshan Packages Limited (RPL) reported a 4% rise in consolidated net profit for the financial year closing June 30, 2026, reaching Rs115mn against a restated Rs110.14mn a year earlier, according to Mettis Global. Together with the results, the directors have put forward a 10% cash payout, which equals Re1 per share. Per-share earnings, both basic and diluted, rose to Rs0.81 compared with Rs0.78 a year before.

A 12% gain in net revenue and a large tax reversal lifted earnings, offsetting heavier operating costs, credit loss provisions and finance charges. Management described the year's backdrop as uneven, citing unstable raw material prices, costlier energy and transport, and Middle East tensions that unsettled commodity and freight markets. Competition and slow customer acceptance of price hikes restricted how fully dearer inputs could be recovered.

Management is pursuing a paper mills project through its subsidiary Roshan Sun Tao Paper Mills (Private) Limited, which is expected to reduce reliance on outside sources and sharpen cost competitiveness. The company also intends to broaden its supplier network and assess other trade corridors, aiming to cushion the effects of geopolitical events. Digitalization, automation and renewable energy also feature in the company's investment priorities, according to the annual report 2026.
