RLNG supply constraints: KE warns of 'load management' during peak hours
Business Recorder • • 1 min read

K-Electric (KE) has warned that it may turn to load management during evening and night peak periods because of limited regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) supplies across the country. The statement came from a company spokesperson on Friday, according to Business Recorder. KE, which is responsible for producing, carrying and delivering power in Karachi, described such curbs as a measure of last resort.
Imran Rana, in a post on X, attributed the shortfall to overseas shipment setbacks and delayed cargoes, which have reduced gas available for power plants nationwide, KE's territory included. He indicated that daytime electricity supply should remain broadly steady. Peak periods run from 6:30pm to 10:30pm between April and October, and from 6:00pm to 10:00pm from November to March.
KE said it is working closely with Pakistan LNG Limited and relevant authorities to bring conditions back to normal as quickly as possible.
At a glance
- KE may introduce load management during evening and night peak hours.
- RLNG shortfall, linked to overseas shipment setbacks, is affecting generation nationally.
- Daytime supply is expected to stay largely stable, with load management a last resort.
