FBR proposes mandatory digital filing of companies' financial statements from tax year 2026
Profit by Pakistan Today • • 1 min read

The Federal Board of Revenue has proposed that companies file their financial statements electronically through IRIS alongside income tax returns starting with tax year 2026. Profit by Pakistan Today reported that the draft amendments, issued on October 27, would let the FBR set the technical formats and validation rules for these submissions.
The proposal also requires digital signatures or another secure form of authentication for documents filed through the system. After a filing is accepted and validated, IRIS would issue an acknowledgement with a unique reference number; the FBR is inviting feedback within seven days of publication in the official gazette before finalising the draft.
The change remains proposed, so the filing requirements are not yet final. For investors, the issue concerns how companies will submit financial reporting information with their tax returns if the amendments take effect.
